OMS continuous mini-pilot research environments consist of mineral beneficiation processes and laboratory equipment. The environments have been developed together with industry and research institutes. The processes cover all the mineral processing phases: crushing, grinding, flotation, gravity and magnetic separation, thickening, and water treatment. The laboratory equipment includes both batch flotation and grinding units. Additionally, wide range of measurements and analyzers, including XRF, XRD, MLA, Raman spectroscopy, and on-line microscopy are available.The environment has been utilised in various national (Tekes) and international (H2020, ERDF) projects.

MineSense: The goal of the project is to apply novel optical instrumentation and process control to the whole cycle of ore beneficiation aiming for sustainability
TOTUM (applied), a H2020 SPIRE project focusing on holonic manufacturing systems
Currently, the grinding and flotation processes as well as laboratory and analysis services are available. The expansion of the rest of the plant is ongoing and will be finished by the end of 2016.
